Today, chuds would complain that a non-white kid was added to the cast because that’s “woke pandering”.

This right here was a great opportunity to spice up Heart of the City and tell more stories, and it was wasted for more Heart and Dean stories (not that those were necessarily bad, it’s just that they pretty much totally dominated the strip after around 2006 or so)
