A jimmie is what many folks in the northeastern US call sprinkles, AKA those tiny little chocolate-like or rainbow-colored things you can sprinkle on top of ice cream. (I think other places in the US call them something else, but I’m not remembering what their terms are.)

I think “jimmies” is just a New England thing … not the whole northeast.

Nope, we in PA always called them jimmies too (admittedly this was northeast PA, though!).
