Herb’s situation as a child sounds much like a similar problem the Apostle Paul had with one of his churches. They were using grace to manipulate God. Paul said, “Should we sin that Grace would abound? God forbid!” There are still folks that think they can live like they always did, and then go to church to receive absolution. They might also feel that the more they sin, the more Grace they could get.
