Well, and what have you done to help them be more self-reliant? What resources have you shown them, what skills have you taught them to amuse themselves, what kind of example do you set for them? I deal with far too many clueless parents who think buying something for their kids, plunking them in front of various tubes, or signing them up for a program somewhere counts as good parenting.
