That’s what we called it in Madison, WI in the 70s where I grew up. Just with your boots on snow/ice. I gather the term now more generally refers to with a skateboard or rollerskates/blades.
We called it shagging in detroit in the 70’s. They never cleared the streets in detroit, so we could shag a ride for miles.
