The first two panels would actually make great instructional material for someone learning to draw, you can really see how important drawing boxes is to drawing so many things.
Uh Ellie, I really doubt Al is on fire, but even if he was couldn’t you put that out? You worked in a restaurant, putting out fires is part of the standard training!
are all these boxes made of ticky-tacky? Oh, and “Baby’s on fire, better throw her in the water. Look at her laughing, just like a heifer to the slaughter.”
Well, Hubbs, wake up and go save the baby. Maybe your idiot wife will see you are worth something. This is the problem when all of society continuously slams men!
I really miss the old Ellie and Hubbs and their simple, shy comical interactions. Little Al introduced too much angst: we now have a baby-obsessed Ellie and a Hubbs reduced to a nervous, insecure wreck. Too grim for what used to be a lighthearted comic. Maybe spontaneous combustion is the best fate we can hope for with disruptive little Al.
Sorry, I’m in a bitter, pessimistic mood after last week’s attempt to overthrow the government. This isn’t the America I grew up in. The BananaRepublicans brought all this down on themselves. The rest of us? Simply collateral damage.
Well, at least Ellie didn’t call him at work to solve a problem that he can do nothing to fix remotely. Back in the day, I had to forbid my wife to call me at work about things that she could take care of herself. My sister, however, was unable to control herself, and I had to block her calls. I’m retired now, and she’s still blocked. I refuse to be dragged into her panic-parties.

Hubbs really needs to try out for the NFL and just see what happens. He could come here to Pittsburgh and talk to the Roonies. Worth a Shot.

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
Little boxes, just the same.
There’s a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.
And the people in the houses
All ran to the university,
And they were put in boxes,
And they came out all the same
There’s a doctor and a lawyer
And a business executive,
And they’re all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

Can’t be literal or she’d probably be a lot less coherent than that.

That is deep, we spend our lives in many different boxes, should come as no surprise that we end our lives in a box.

Maybe Al is just fine and is doing something really cool, like breakdancing or kicking butt on Overwatch.
