Why didn’t the Republicans listen to Senator McCain, since he’s a Republican? That makes it strange for you to wonder why the Democrats didn’t listen. Next time think before you accuse.
Very good point, CS. McCain tried to fix Freddie Mac back in 2005 when the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress and the White House. If it wasn’t fixed back then it was because the Republicans didn’t want it to happen.
The Republican Party is generally opposed to regulating business, taking the attitude that the market can take care of itself. The Freddie Mac collapse and the whole banking crisis we’re still suffering from is a result of too little regulation.

Dems were taking their money. Same as the repubs were taking oil money. We get the results of both drifting slowly in to kill us.

But, Ed, the market did take care of itself. Kind of like the hit man the mob boss tells to take care of someone.
