We were told lots of incorrect things when we were growing up.

Be careful, Jojo…you run the risk of being hit with that walking stick!

I’m pretty sure lighting doesn’t hit the EXACT same place twice. A tree has lots of places, as does a building. Just because it hits a tree or a building multiple times doesn’t mean it hits the exact same place on the tree or building.

I thought it was because after a strike, the place no longer existed.

Ah, that old chestnut! Usually correct in the case of trees. However, the Empire State Building puts the lie to that https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/watch-empire-state-building-struck-lighting

Just to make sure, you’d better vacate the premises.

just my GED-level speculation.. there’s a high concentration of ferrous (Fe 2+) and ferric (Fe 3+) ions in the soil in/around the tree., the tree is the antenna.

I agree with Jojo; Sunny is turning into an annoying know-it-all.

My aunt’s house was struck by lightning twice in the exact same place, a couple of years apart. The lightning burned up all the house wiring, but, fortunately, the house didn’t burn down.

Lightning rods get hit all the time. That’s the point of them.

I’m with JoJo on this! Just last week, lightning struck a house in Bermuda, not too far from where I live. Thank God no one was seriously hurt.

And people think fear of thunderstorms is irrational.

You can take the kid out of the city, but you can’t take the city out of the kid.
