The Beandocks Cuco: Hey Barry, how did your "Twitter Townhall" go? 1stblkprez: Well, to be, uh, honest, uh, Cuco, I, uh, absolutely, uh, enjoyed it. Cuco: It must have been really hard being limited to 140 "uhs"...
He has to be careful what he says. One slip of saying 57 states instead of 47 has been used 50,000 times on this forum, whereas Palin and Bachman come up with crazy stuff every day and Republicans think it is OK.
When my hubby taught classes how to communicate publicly, he told them that “uh” and “er” were like weeds in a garden. It helped them to cut them down or out.
So if you’re using uh and er while speaking, and it means you’re thinking while you speak, then it stands to reason you’ve done little or no thinking before you speak, and you have to make stuff up on the fly, which then means you haven’t taken the time to think out all of the ramifications of what you’re thinking about as you speak.
