@agrestic Maybe you should put your JUDGEment on hold and strap on a policeman’s uniform and step out there yourself. This thug had just robbed a store and probably thought the policeman was going to arrest him for that instead of just giving him a talking to for jay walking so he started to fight and in the course of the struggle the policeman thought he was trying to get his gun and one thing led to another and an unnecessary tragedy developed.

@agrestic If I remember right you were the one who told me to put away my six shooter. I don’t understand what you’re getting at. What makes you think I have a six shooter jus because I think the policeman should have been allowed to defend himself and believe we should wait until the facts are in. You got a problem with that. And I’d be willing to wager you have never put yourself in harms way that’s why you can be so cavalier about how someone who is in harms way should act.

Yes I am a progressive liberal and proud of it but what does that have to do with my wondering why it’s OK for common sanse (his spelling, not mine) to pass snap judgments on Michael Brown but then condemn any judgment of Officer Wilson?

The money we should be collecting from all those foreign companies that want to sell their crap in the United Shopping mall of America. Now to soon include Burger King.

@Don57 Oh, maybe it’s because of a video showing Brown stealing cigars and shoving and hitting the store owner when he tried to stop them. There’s an old saying. For every law crooks are caught breaking there are ten more where thy didn’t get caught). Don’t expect this to ever be investigated because Brown is dead and the policeman who shot him is in hiding because of threats on his life (people like the above already passing judgment). And as for the guns @ectruscan we have been trying to pass laws to at lest assure that they don’t get into the hands of people that would do us harm, but the Republicans on orders from their masters (NRA) will have none of it.@indiethink “whose money would they spend” That’s the best laugh I’ve had yet. I paid $5,000 dollars in taxes this past year. That’s more than 48 percent of the largest companies in this country paid. and many of them got money back that they didn’t even pay in plus money to help them move their companies off shore. The Liberals sure didn’t pass laws to let them do that.

@indithink My son says I am a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. I think he is right. I just think that rioting and looting is not a proper response to a perceived wrong, at least until the legal system has had a chance to review the facts. You can’t give Brown a pass and condemn the policeman until all the facts are in. I don’t remember any rioting and looting over the O. J. trial despite the fact that he was as guilty as sin and the jury knew it. I think they called it Nullification. Payback for the slavery days. In my opinion one will always be a slave in his mind if he doesn’t let go of the past. Look at the Irish they fought and killed their brothers for a slight that happened two hundred years ago. It’s crazy.

I went to a funeral today of a young man who died while in police custody; circumstances so far unclear, but I know he wasn’t a threat.I wish these guys would think once in while before they kill someone that that person has a life, family, friends, others who love them and will miss them all their lives. Not everyone is a mortal threat, not everyone who looks at them crosseyed has to die.

What a fun bit from the indie/common mutual appreciation society! Hey indie: as deplorably racist as common’s initial post was (and common’s subsequent unthinking defense of it), at least common’s speaking to the issue presented today. So, what’s your position on it?.And again, common, let’s talk about that oh-so-conveniently released video, which the cops admitted had nothing to do with the later execution for jaywalking (do you know the history of that word? It’s fascinating). Number one, even if the cop had known about it, it does not justify a cop shooting to kill (at least, last time I checked shoplifting and simple assault are not capital offenses even in Missouri). And in my extensive experience with white teenage boys, this sort of thing has tended elicit responses along the lines of “boys will be boys and maybe they should be grounded to teach them a lesson.” Not, “That kid’s a thug!” To be fair, maybe you’re an equal-opportunity thug-caller, though I doubt it..There’s also a long history of police racism in Ferguson, starting with the fact that in a town with an over 60% black population only 3 out of 53 officers are black, and moving downhill from there. As a “social liberal,” I would think you’d be sensitive to that.

@Night-Gaunt49 Man. Who opened the cage and let you out? There was so many wrong assumptions with your statement I wouldn’t even try to make sense of it. And you came in so late. Kind of like you wanted to spew your garbage then run away before anyone had a chance to discuss it with you. Well played.

Aw, poor indie. You’re trapped in a rage cage of your own making and don’t seem to be able to figure out how to get out of it. And now you’re doing the same thing with me as you do with Alcaraz: just throw out a whole lot of nonsense questions without putting your own actual thoughts out there. Such a familiar, tired, uninspired pattern. And you know what? That’s all I’m going to give you this evening. Except for this: if you’re angry on stage, people will ride it out with you for a little while, but after some time, especially if you just devolve into incoherent rage, and especially if you’re not entertaining, you lose the entire room, even the ones who may have started out sympathizing with you. Same thing for working with hecklers: if you can’t be at least interesting while dealing with ‘em, the audience’ll turn on you, and you’re going to have to do a whole lot of work to get them back, if you even can.
