John has Christmas cards for sale! But, back to today’s………I understand it, but I don’t get the humor.
@DoctorLarryOI’m sorry this one wasn’t funny to you. I was trying to set up the expectation that he was offering to help. And then have readers suddenly realize that he was telling her to not bother him. The difference between the expectation and the reality were supposed to be funny.

As for my talk at the University of Washington—-despite my nervousness and fatigue (only three hours sleep)—-the instructor told me things went well and he’d love to have me speak another time.So I’m feeling pretty good about that.

I ’got it", but once you get into “uncaring boss” humor, you are bumping up against Scott Adams, so that you are carrying a knife into a gunfight.
Stick with double entendre and you will rarely wander into Dilbert territory…
