Yes, he should break it off with Jen, but there’s something else he should do with her first. Yes, that would be being a reprehensible cad, but for this guy, it would be justifiable as a much needed educational experience.
I’m lost. Is this a new arc, with Jen still available, or starting over, or is it a continuation of what happens after Jen says “yes” to the jerk’s marriage proposal (and her mother)? Anyway, Frank is overdone here, and it’s hard to like him, hard not to despise him, even. He needs a good kick in the butt and push out the door. Why do we take fiction so seriously, anyway? I guess we can’t help it. Maybe it fills some empty spots in our own hearts?
Oh yeah, she’s smart, full of life and beautiful. She is also using you, beating you like a drum and playing you like a banjo. She has no interest in you other than seeing how much she can string you along and cause you pain. Perhaps you should take a lesson from “Of Human Bondage”. Jen treats you like Mildred treated Phillip.

Well, at least his insight puts everything into a perspective. But he’ll cave the instant Jen walks in.

When I was a young and foolish lad, I learned the hard way to always choose peace of mind over piece of * * *.
