This was one of my favorite parts of Little Abner. I remember the New Year’s strip for 1973. In that one the old man year, 1972, tell’s the new year baby, 1973, “What a year I was! But you know what? When I’m gone they will call me the good old days, and no matter how big a mess you make, when you’re gone they will call YOU the good old days!”

Ah, 1948. The year I was born—back in the stone age. It’ll be a good year for Abner and Daisy!

I remember when 1963 told young 1964 how ashamed he was of the events of his year.
