I love Dad’s expression from the back - either “Yeah, that’s what I thought” or “Oh Jeez, here we go again.”

Walter Davis - What! Do you see a plane? I don’t see a plane! Does anyone see a plane? Lighten up! Not only is it a comic: it’s Lio.

No offense, Walter, but this is just the old giant robot/monster destroying city gag. We’ve seen it tons of times before in this comic and other stuff…and I havent’ heard complaining before.

It’s people that can’t have a laugh at a simple comic and want to censor even the things that we draw that will destroy the beauty that is America. So lighten up, laugh, and try to actually be Patriotic.

I wonder when 9/11 will be like 12/7? How many of you remember the significance of that date?

That’s right. Censor recent events that should cause americans to stand up, and just plain forget the old ones. What is happening to this country. But back to lio, i would expect him to be on top of the robot, enjoying the spectacle.

I do, as I’m sure many others do.

    Walter Davis says:

I love Lio and most of his antics. However, I think we still remember 9/11 well enough that this is pushing the envelope just a bit and could stir up very painful memories for some.

I totally disagree. This is the ol’ Japanese monster movie theme; some of my best laughs in high school were watching those movies with friends on a Saturday afternoon, and seeing the monster’s rubber legs bend backwards. Those old movies were made to point out the horror of nuclear war.

    westiewestaz says:

I agree with Walter Davis. 9/ll will be with us for a long time and not enough time has gone by to allow it to be thought of in a light-minded way, nor ever should it be. That’s as bad as a camp song that treats the sinking of the Titanic light-mindedly - disrespectful. There are plenty of other subjects for comics. And don’t tell us it’s just a comic strip. There are areas where respect is due from even comic artists.

Once again, this has NOTHING to do with 9-11. It’s just Lio and his monster. Lio’s always admired Godzilla. dlkinley says: What! Do you see a plane? I don’t see a plane! Does anyone see a plane?

Exactly. Do you see any terrorists? I don’t see any terrorists. I see Lio and his monster…

westiewestaz says on Baldo today: “… but, it is a comic strip and I think it’s cute the way the cartoonist has presented a concern… ” I agree; this is a comic strip, too.

I think that nothing (a comic strip, a song) should be seen as offensive if it’s not meant to be.

After a page and a half of Godzilla vs 9/11 that was a great joke!

Yeah the apocalypse/destruction of the city seems to happen lot here. O_o It would suck to live near that kid. Also…I thought the robot was a water tower at first. XD
