I’m surprised the whole tree didn’t go up in flames. But wait … this is still the artificial tree from yesterday, isn’t it? Maybe it’s been treated to be fire retardant.

No he’s not. That’s an ungrounded two-prong socket.

Better get a experienced electrician to help your dad, Lio. There are no self-help books out there entitled “Christmas Tree Lighting For Dummies”!

@Desultourist: Actaully it depends on if that ladder is metal/conductive or not. Dad may not be grounded through the socket, but he could be part of the “ground fault” himself. - Geek mode deactivated.

Maybe it puts out the ame heat and radiation of a real star and there is no wiring problem.

@ninmas, Lio’s growth is matter of perspective of his dad being in the relative distance. For that matter, his dad’s trouble should be put in the perspective that at least it was a store-bought topper, and not one of Lio’s inventions. That would have wiped out the whole house if any problems arose.

Hmmmm. I thought Lio was a tree hugger who sets up a fake tree. In panel 3 the tree has the type of stand you fill up with water. Could that be a (Gasp!!) real tree????
