I have to take Cindi Lou’s temp before we leave for the Vet’s office. She works herself into such a state at the office that she measures a 104 temp when they take it.

Oh! Not the vets, but the animal clinic! Even worse!

Our vet is in the feed store so my dog never realizes we are at the vet. This is his 2nd favorite place to be (other than the dog park). It is where we get his food, toys, well, everything. By the time we make to the back where the vet is, he is in little dogie heaven! Then he sulks all the way home.

We were lucky in Sacto as we had a great vet and Alex and Brandy loved him. Best vet we ever had over the years. We moved to LV and the vet there was OK but Alex and Brandy put up with him. Cassidy tolerated him also. When we moved to CA again we found a great vet that came to the house as we no longer had a car. A wonderful vet.

I think the dogs sense their owner’s emotion/worry and that is what might make them afraid to go to the vet’s office. None of my dogs were ever that way, and they were actually very happy to go. There were so many interesting smells there and other animals and people to sniff. I don’t think they ever remembered the shots or the thermometer.

My vet always sat on the floor with the animals to calm them. Then he gave them treats. They enjoyed going because “Dr Mark” is always so good to them. He would talk to them and stroke them as he put the needle in. They never felt it. The vet office is a good place as far as they are concerned.

Bums, the final frontier … these are the voyages of the USS Thermometer, it’s terrible mission, to explore unmentionable places, to seek out new polyps and cysts, to boldly go where nothing should really go!
