What gets me is how they can get away with phone number spoofing. THAT should make the whole thing illegal. If I get a call from a number similar to mine (mobile, from my former area code and exchange), I am tempted to answer it, but I haven’t lived in that AC for three years. I did answer once, and got an offer to reduce my credit card interest….. The intro said “you’re qualified”, when I asked which card qualified, they said “Visa or MC”…. I had fun with the “agent” for a couple of minutes, then he told me what I could do with myself and hung up.

She’d have done it a lot sooner, but she had no idea “24-hour coverage” was really 24-hour coverage. They rotate night duty.

Do a web search: “nomorobo” – I’ve been using it for about a year.

I did the same thing and basically told the person, if you don’t even know what cards I have, how do you know you can beat their rate?
