I was always surprised that Gunther didnāt get regularly shut in a locker at Pitts by a group of bullies. At best, real life kids who behaved like he did got ridiculed mercilessly by other boys. I think thatās why so many teen aged boys try to develop a cynical ācoolā attitude.
From what I remember of high school (Iām 70 now, so that was a while ago), my friends and I always figured that the kids who kept waving their hands around and shouting āpick meā to answer questions were either already the teacherās āpetsā, or were trying to show everyone else that they were better than the rest of us (because they āknew everythingāā¦)
