Nancy is in the back yard with a broom and scooper. She looks down at Paddles and says, "Wait a minute. Why am I cleaning up your little doggie deposits? I have enough to do." Paddles looks up at her. Nancy hands the broom and scooper to Frank, who is reading the newspaper. She says, "Here." Frank hands the broom and scooper to Brad, who is eating a cookie. He says, "Here." Brad hands the broom and scooper to Luann, who is on the phone. He says, "Here." Luann hands the broom and scooper to Paddles in the back yard. She says, "Here." Paddles looks up at her.

In my experience with dogs, they may be family dogs, but, generally, they pick one person (Who best fits their personality*) and tend to spend more time with that person *For instance, our first dog loved my Mom cause she was the sort who liked a lot of attention; Whereas, our third dog was very independant and prefered to be with my Dad, who mostly ignored her
