Ed(gar, -win, -mond, -ward) must really know what he’s doing when it comes to pricing (luxury) items.

Next lesson in economics: research your market! Of course if you just invite a buyer over he’s going to put as low a value as possible on everything. Find out what the going rates are for used goods with the level of wear that you have and expect half of that (because the reseller has to make a profit, too.) Or better yet, auction it off to the highest bidder.

Well, it is ‘help’ of a sort, I suppose. ✨

Color me disappointed. I was hoping Tiffany’s call for help was more about a breakthrough, not more of the same.

I thought she was calling Ghost Busters. Looks like she didn’t miss by much.

Certainly not the continuation of the devastated Tiff post from Friday!

Well, THIS is a surprise. Kinda.

Tiffany didn’t call someone she knows (I TOLD you she was too formal). Nor did she call a crisis hotline. Or her mom.

Instead she called someone who’s going to rip her off. Like she’s NOT getting ripped off enough already.

And My hats off to those who said Tiff wasn’t worried. You were RIGHT.

The BAD News is, she’s still not thinking.

Tiff, dear? Why not sell your stuff to Gunther and Les? They’ll pay a lot more than THIS Jackball ever will. At the very least, let the lads hang on to your stuff until you get back on your feet.

Because unless a MIRACLE happens, and SOON, this would seem to indicate that Tiffany WILL be moving into a smaller dorm room, very, very soon.

And I can’t WAIT to meet her new Roommate(s).

Is this still the same day? Did they just skip over what she did for Thanksgiving?

Oh, no, Tiffany. You’re selling your high-end stuff for pennies. Don’t. Sell them on those for sale apps such as Craiglist or LegGo. You’ll not be paid pennies but at more reasonable prices for used goods. Oh or just have a dorm yardsale. Put in college advertisement paper or post on campus bulletin boards about selling your stuff. Beware – some guys might use that as an excuse to get into your dorm room and YOU so be sure to meet someplace public with all-angles close up pictures of your goods and get paid first before getting friends into your dorm room with you when they come to pick up their newly acquired goods.

So this guy came over on Thanksgiving? Aren’t places like this usually closed on Thanksgiving? Or is this the next day and we’re to assume she just spent the rest of the holiday starving alone?

And it appears that instead of reaching a breakthrough with Tiffany’s mental health, her phone call was just a lead-in to more Wacky Hijinks that will likely involve her being swindled by these guys. What a letdown.

This makes absolute sense! She does not have to say yes to this guy, but she’s being a realist about downsizing her dorm room for the winter / spring term. Sell her remaining stuff, move into the smaller room and make it work. I’m smelling Anne being trapped in her self centered ways by trying to spin this against Tiff. She rats out to daddy that daughter sold all her things, but when confronted, Tiff spills the beans what Anne has been telling her and what she is spending to make things work out. Then we discover daddy has been allowing Anne to manage Tiff’s finances as a simple test for both of them.

G & K – Cut Tiffany a break – it’s time.

I’m hoping this selling binge doesn’t lead Tiff to start selling her body.

She would have been better off advertising it on the bulletin boards.

Haggle with this guy a little – it’s not Louis XIV quality, it’s used furniture, but it’s worth more than he’s offering. If she had a lawn sale (not practical at college), would she get much more?

By the time he leaves, she will have enough to buy an all expense paid trip for one to McDonalds.

Someone is going to come on the scene and break up her little G-sale! Just in time to help her get a better deal.

I knew she could sell her furniture, but this is wrong. This turn isn’t humorous. Let her have some wins.

Tiff, do not let Ed fool you. That look he is sporting is an act. When he is not doing this, he drives a Lambo, is on the list at the Roxbury, buys most of his clothes on Rodeo Drive, and lives in Pacific Palisades. We all know that table is worth at least $18, and the lamp $11. Go get ’im Tiff…

This overarching plot line is starting to drag a bit. It has me convinced that Greg is absolutely determined to completely deconstructed everything about the old Tiffany, throwing out all that she was, then reconstruct her into a new character from the ashes. She will be Tiffany-in-name only.

Is there a reason she hasn’t looked into a student loan? Hey, not the best option, but better than sitting in a room without a stitch of furniture and only the clothes on your back.

She’ll be lucky to get 40 bucks for her entire apartment.

This is her big idea? Sell everything until she has nothing left? Then what?

How much for the sleeve buttons and bed curtains? Reminded of Old Joe!

I said she might call movers, I was kind of close. At least she found some clothes to wear.

Ah, another classic Greg Evans misdirection play. Act like you are moving one way, but go a totally unexpected way. Actually this reminds me of myself as a young man, my parent died, I moved from where we were living (did not have too, it was a nice public housing 2 bedroom I later found out I could have stayed up to a year). I ended up selling a houseful of furniture for $60. This was in 1970, so I estimate that to be about 400 in today’s money. I was taken advantage of, but learned a valuable lesson. Perhaps this is the point this arc. Remember hilarity ensues1

Yay! Go Tiffany! Get rid of all the old stuff! They were so horrible and gross. Sure, selling everything by Internet would have mean been better paid, but Tiffany needs to get rid of all the old stuff Asap!

I hope this isn’t the “I have plans” she was talking about. but, live and learn I guess.

When my in-laws went into assisted living they had a house full of furniture they weren’t going to need. They called Habitat for humanity to make a donation but they demanded photo and assurances of the quality. The furnituure went to good will. our contempt was sent to habitat.

Oh no! She’s going to get fleeced——just like Gunther did with his nice furniture after Les talked him into selling it all at a yard sale for rock bottom prices.

Of course Tiffany’s designer furniture is to her unique taste so it’s a niche market at best. But still, she should be able to get more than what Ed is offering!

I don’t think so.

Cyber Monday this is not!

OK! Once again I’ll try to provide a wild a$$ guess at what GnK are going after today.

Perhaps! Indeed, Tiffany came to a conclusion T-Day evening and, indeed, has Made Other Plans. The plan is to shed herself of the last vestiges of her old life. We are seeing the dawn of the new Tiffany Farrell!

How GnK will play that out will make us wonder yet again What are they thinking!?!?

I’ve got a feeling she’s selling her stuff to get ready to move into that smaller dorm room. Now watch, she does all that and she finds out that the room is taken. She’ll have to again, move home or maybe live with the boys

Wouldn’t it make more sense to just live with the guys?

I would say yard sale but students don’t generally have a lot of cash

look at the bright side; when Tiffany moves into that shared dorm room, she won ’t have a lot of furniture to move :)

Just because she called this guy doesn’t mean she has to accept his terms. She should call Bets for some advice. Or list everything on Craig’s List. But, I’m disappointed she didn’t call someone about Thanksgiving.

Boring now hope to get it moving. Will skip a couple days and come back and see if any thing is different.

New Years prediction. On Monday Dec. 30th, and for all of 2021, Luann will take the crown back from Tiffany and resume her place as the eponymous character in the strip! Any bets?

Aww. I guess she did spend thanksgiving alone. :(

I hate to say this ,but Tiffany needs a good man to lift her up. They can add a new male character to spice things up. I would cozy up to her and help her along the way.

Still selling off from a shrinking pile of assets.

This is getting sadder by the moment. I may have to step away until thinks take a turn for the better.

Hoping we see what kind of a business woman she can be, by negotiating on prices. If she had to pay for removal, it would cost more than she’d get for the stuff. Rather than asking friends for help, she’s going it alone, possible mistakes, lessons learned and all. Go Tiff!

There is a growing number of upper scale consignment shops out there! I think several would, for a small fee, haul it off for her … (Yes, I know Tiffany has very few funds now, but still).

Tiff should consider before selling low to ‘Ed’. Plus, there’s E-bay, Craigslist, LetGo, and so on! I know she’s at a low point, but she shouldn’t resort to ‘panic-selling’…

Tiffany and most of the commenters have it wrong. The ED on his overalls is Ellen DeGeneres’ brand, not his name. ;o)

I’m really getting the feeling that Tiffany is not all that smart…

Darn Greg is relentless. If Rod Serling were alive, he might name this arc, “Requiem for a Bimbo.”

Sometimes, letting go of baggage, so to speak, can be liberating. My wife and I had to move in a hast because of circumstances beyond our control, (the duplex we lived in was sold and the new owners wanted to do badly needed renovations). It forced us to downsize considerably, when we were finished and moved in to a considerable smaller apartment, it was like a huge burden had been lifted from our shoulders.

This is disappointing to me on several levels:

1. Tiffany is going to get next to nothing from the JunkYard Man for any of her stuff.

2. The pitiful amount of cash does not in any appreciable sense fix in any long term fashion, any of Tiffany’s plight.

3. I was reading that Tiffany was really feeling a lot of pain last week when Annie infiltrated the scene. Today, this action…. makes me wonder if I was wrong. This seems more calculated than I would have anticipated.

For me, I am thinking this reads like Tiffany is mad about Ann and is scheming here in some fashion. In the last panel, her expression about her stuff not being “trash” suggests to me that perhaps she called Mr. I-haul specifically to get her stuff out of here quick for minimal money.

But…. why?!?!?

The cynic in me thinks perhaps Tiffany mistakenly believes she can use her “destitute” status to play the sympathy card on ’ole Tom. If that is what Tiffany is thinking….. damn…. she is going to be in for even more hurt than before. (sigh)

The slightly more hopeful me thinks perhaps Tiffany has had an epiphany of sorts…. a) not to rely on Tom “Cat” for "nuthin’ ", and b) that she quickly wants to move in with Bets and behind the scenes that was already decided and she and Bets decided there was enough furniture at Bets place.

A third alternative I thought of is if Tiffany is just selling the stuff for a few bucks just to keep surviving and we see her having a breakdown in her empty dorm room…. that will be the saddest and worst option of all.

That’s one way to look at it Tiff, but after you sell everything you’ve got, you’re going to have to leave the apartment.

From his offers, Ed’s company shirt logo should say ’i’scam’.

Sell all your stuff isn’t a sustainable business model. You run out of stuff.

And, Next Week when she goes shopping for “Cheaper” replacements and sees her stuff on sale for hundreds of dollars, she will learn the true meaning of “Buy Low, Sell High”.

So, what is Greg’s point? If he has one, he is taking forever to make it.

Ugh! “Ed” is a cheapskate! If you’ve gotta sell the last of your stuff, Tiffany, at least get a better price for it!

I sold everything I had while waiting to get on welfare when I was having a tough time finding a job. Supported myself for 6 months off of books and stamps and things. By the time I finally found work all I had left was stuff in such poor shape even a junk dealer wouldn’t take it off of me.

Tiffany, send this cheapskate packing. This is the same guy who tried to con TJ and Brad into paying him $200 to take a car off their hands.
