There was a time capsule buried at the 1939 New York World’s Fair that is meant to be disinterred after 5,000 years. I wonder what the cockroaches of the future will think of it.
That kind of evolution takes millions of years, not thousands. Civilizations rise and fall, and new civilizations take their places. I actually think that the Westinghouse time capsules will be opened by humans. Generations from now, the survivors of our carelessness will be hunter/gatherers, then over time farmers. Civilization will rise, and again, technology will advance. There are artifacts in museums that are five thousand years old, and older. Not a one of them was put away with it in mind for people five thousand years in the future to find.
