I was taught to call be people Mr or Mrs with their last name. When I went to work, one of my co-workers was my neighbor that I knew from the time I was 5 yrs old. Her name is Mrs Roux. Of course I called her that to the dismay of all the other co-workers. It took me a while to get used to calling her by her first name.
I always learned first and last names of my classmates. As a budding writer, words fascinated me. The sounds of some names were particularly intriguing. But that was me.

Soccer practice is going to be real short if he doesn’t learn to keep his eyes on the ball.
