See, when I was young we had to go down the slide with those clamp on roller skates, eight metal wheels, only four of which had half a chance of being aligned with any other wheel, but not necessarily on the same foot. Oh, and you were to come off the end, if you made it that far, like a ski jumper. “WATCH OUT FOR THAT TREE!”
Back when there was such a thing as shoes with hard plastic soles, I slid down the tall (I was in 5th grade, so 6-and-a-half, seven feet?) slide standing up a couple of times. On the last trip down, I made it to just past the halfway mark and somehow managed to twist my ankle. Somehow, I jumped forward into a roll, clearing the bottom of the slide and 2 bags of sack-crete the maintenance guy had poured in the big hole that always shows up at the bottom of slides and under swings. I must have limped around for 2 months on that ankle. It was also my last daredevil run down the slide.
