Political correctness and rampant consumerism are combining to destroy the true meaning of Christmas. Lila will do the right thing, hopefully. Buy what she needs and do whatever she can to help others.
@ForeverAllstar These strips are re-runs. New Meaning of Lila strips are no longer being produced. :-( So at this point in time, Annie hasn’t entered the picture yet.
@pbuckland The “true meaning of Christmas” is that it was a pagan holiday to celebrate the winter solstice. It was hijacked by Christianity to help ease conversion of the heathens so they wouldn’t have to give up one of their favorite holidays. Also regarding “political correctness” (I assume you are referring to people who say “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”), nearly 1 in 4 Americans is not Christian. So wishing someone merry xmas without knowing their religious beliefs (or lack of) is rather presumptuous. And there are also a number of holidays around the same time as xmas like Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc. So while some people may regard “Happy Holidays” as politically correct, I regard it as treating others with a little common decency and not arrogantly assuming them to be something they’re not.

It’s always easier to find stuff for yourself, not so easy to find gifts for others. And people say I’m hard to shop for!
