E pluribus Unum was from the founding fathers, “In God we trust”, and the addition of “under God” in the pledge, was the result of the McCarthy era surge to oppression and ultra-conservatism, driven by the “religious” and THEIR intolerance that the framers of the Constitution feared more than a monarchy!
Even Mr. Pence, declaring himself “Christian first” before American, or patriot, who said he was NOT OFFENDED by these multi-cultural, and very intelligent “mere actors” expressing their views in actually very respectful language. (Remember, it was THEY who said no booing or degrogatory comments, in respect for the office he will assume, AND his personally expressed beliefs. It was Trump who went nuts.)
BTW: it is often they who yell or chant the loudest, and wave the biggest flag, who turn their “nationalism” into TREASON! There is adequate RIGHT, and REASON to stand up, and speak up, about the constant threats to our freedoms, and national identies expressed by Mr. Trump and his minions. Maybe THAT is why he’s reversing on so many of his campaign “pledges” now that folks are filling him in on what the job he hopes to assume entails???
Mr. Trump was all noise and impudence during his campaign. Now he’s trying to overcome his sociopathy, narcissism and ADHD. I hope he musters the self control, necessary to govern. My fondest dream would be for this deeply mentally ill person to moderate the far right wing war mongers, selfishness, and religious fervor. Just might happen, since his narcissism demands others like and respect him, and a majority of the country didn’t vote for him. I remain cautiously hopeful.

Trump’s speeches and tweets: Noise and impudence passing for worth. Commotions and clamors mistaken for patriotism

Yes, let’s all be good little right wing Trumpets and be quiet while he destroys the free world.
