Empty gestures. This cartoon is like congress. Big on platitudes. But not willing to address the problem. Ramirez can’t bring himself to criticize the NRA. He can’t bring himself to plead for stronger gun laws.
A note: The Articles of Confederation called for the states to keep all weapons in armories, and dole them out when needed. At the Constitutional Convention, the realized the logistics of this was poor, taking too long to arm the MILITIAS. So in the Constitution, “WELL REGULATED” militias were to take the arms home so they could respond quickly in case of INVASION or attacks. Scalia pointed out in DC vs Heller that you have the RIGHT to have a gun in your home for protection, BUT when you go out the door and onto the street, it is the DUTY OF THE GOVERNMENT TO REGULATE HOW YOU USE those “arms”. BTW, when the Constitution was written, swords were also “arms”. Too bad the guy in Las Vegas had more than a sword.
Put succinctly both are rights. There is no natural right to free guns any more than there is a natural right for free healthcare. You have to pay for guns. You have to pay for healthcare.{^_^}

I’m positive that Mr. Ramirez is all for MORE GUNS! This is his pathetic attempt to say otherwise.

I hope that trend stays in Vegas.

Republicans say gun ownership is a right but health care is a privilege.

Time for the GOPs obligatory moment of silence. Then on to trying to make it easier for people to get military grade weapons.

I would rather kneel with Kapernick. If you stand with Vegas, you’d be against unfettered access to these kinds of weapons.

Nevada is the poster state for lax gun laws. Class 3 means literally anything goes.

I disagree that this cartoon is an empty gesture.
It is clearly a celebration. Yet another triumph for the NRA.

^ Inappropriate spot to introduce the ‘health care issue.’
