My mother once said to me: “I think my kidneys have shut down” I asked her if she “went” that day, She replied, yes 5 times so far, that’s too many times, isn’t it?
This is a real pearl of reality. I’m not usually a complainer, but if someone, even a dear friend, asks how things are going with a particular subject, or anything sensitive, I have to remind myself not to share my feelings because most people aren’t really interested in what you’re feeling. No matter how bad it is for you, they have a worse story (“can you top this?”) so “don’t feel bad my ______ was 10x worse” as if their experience should make your concern less of a problem.
