It’s funny how Mr. Meddick draws most characters with very small lips (or none at all!) and Sedgwick has those huge, meaty, ugly ones. I wonder if he personally knew a guy who was a real tightwad 1% , a major snob lacking in knowledge of the real world who also happened to have such lips?
Sedgwick is correct – Potter does get away with stealing/keeping the money. No one ever finds out what he did and he faces no consequences for it (except in the alternate ending shown on Saturday Night Live). We can assume George Bailey continues to live and work in Bedford Falls, fighting off Potter and his business interests, but that’s about it as far as any punishment Potter faces.
