I stall on getting my taxes done too, but that’s primarily because I often don’t receive all of my paperwork until a few days before the deadline. I used to be able to file in early March, now it’s not until late April. (in Canada, btw)
Husband does our taxes. A few years ago got notice from the IRS that we owed $10,000. Husband said they were mistaken and wrote them a letter. We got more government letters with fines and interest added..more letters to the IRS. Finally we got a notice that said OK…we only owed $156. I was thrilled. Husband said we did not owe anything, and wrote another letter. We ended up going to a local IRS office and talking to a lady who went through all the records and agreed that we did not owe any money..and asked husband to please not write them any more letters.

In the U.S we are supposed to get all needed paperwork by Jan 31. I always get a straggler in February after filing.

So, when the IRS sends you to the federal hoosgow, you can clean all the lamps there as your work program, Monty!
