It still amazes me to think that before time zones were assigned every little town set had its own time based on high noon. It must have been a nightmare to set up the railroad timetables.
Actually, the rural communities fought DST.I remember back in the 50s it came up for a vote and was voted down.And then up and voted down again.And then up and voted – oops, passed this time.And then we weren’t allowed to vote again!
@SUSAN NEWMAN The only people that are still framing at least in my area are the Amish, no pesticides, you can’t get any healthier or fresher then that.

DST should be outlawed. It ended after WWII, and then that dang LBJ brought it back.

DST sure helps the neighbourhood softball associations get the kids games in before dark. Most are played at diamonds without expensive floodlighting.

As I recall, Saudi Arabia(?) has no DST – Sunrise is the standard for 6 AM. Plays hob with anyone trying to make international air connections!
