Gweedo – I really don’t specifically recall anything Watson did with Zappa. I think there were two or three albums, but what they were are lost to my fading memory. I remember Watson via Steve Miller doing “Gangster of Love” and name-checking it in a few OTHER songs. Funk fans have altogether different memories of J.G.W.. That’s quite an accomplishment for one guy to have several different audiences.

Does anybody remember Johnny Guitar Watson ?

Well, yeah….but he’s been gone for quite a while. I wouldn’t expect a tribute for him to pop up on this page.

I wouldn’t either. When Jerry Garcia died the whole world cried or so it seemed. When Zappa went, nary a burble.
