I’d be fine with newspapers disappearing if someone could find a way to make online journalism pay the way print syndication does. There’s no “fountain of value” effect because there’s no need for the fountain.
Better circulation than the paper, and that’s the issue.
The only issue of my local paper that poses any danger to my toes is the Black Friday one. 2 lb of news and 50 lb of ads.
The only thing that’s gotten heavy is the price of the newspapers. But, they’re getting thinner.
