Pressing 2 is to open the flood gates because there is NO ‘do not call’ list but you ARE showing it is an active number. Spammers harvest names from the Gov’t DO NOT CALL list because they are guaranteed to be active numbers.
Any response shows them that there is a) a person on the phone and b) potentially quite gullible. Same rules as spam – do NOT respond. It just puts you on more lists.

You can get a voip phone number free, give it out to all those companies that sell them. Check vm once a week.
