A long time ago I was going to school in Edinburgh and bought a 15 year old Mercedes Benz station wagon. Right Hand Drive and about 250,000 Km on the odometer. I kept it for the 10 years or so I was in Europe for school and post doc work. It was built like a tank and including normal maintenance and a water pump it was worth every shilling. Since returning to the USA I never bought an American made or assembled automobile and have never been disappointed in the quality of the cars, from Accord to Cullinan and everything in between.
Getting sorta difficult to find anyone to tune the carburetor on my ‘86 Jeep CJ. I WISH mechanics would say, "Oh, yes, we’re very familiar with that model". Usually they chuckle, say they can’t work on anything that old, and ask me what I want for it. Sigh.

At least the stakes are pretty low.

Gift it to a museum. You might be able to get a tax deduction.

Before looking, the mechanic wrote ’Replace Timing Belt" again.
