One should never stifle a child’s imagination. If the teacher doesn’t believe Danae’s story, she should still listen rather than stop a tale that could provide a creative outlet for an imaginative mind.

cleokaya - I do agree about stifling a child’s imagination, but having one kid in class rambling on about all her imaginative adventures is probably stifling all the other kids. Teacher should direct the kids imagination in a more constructive manner.

Poor Danae, it’s so fustrating when you work hard at something you usually wouldn’t bother with only to be ignored.

She should have brought Captain Eddy to back up her story.

watcha - The teacher already directed Danae to give her the highlights, so Danae should have the opportunity to do just that. Once finished the teacher should have then said something like “That is interesting and imaginative, perhaps you have a future in creating fantasy novels.”

…or perhaps a future in writing comic strips.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Wiley writes much of this out of personal experience :-) :-) :-)

DevXlll If she tried to read that report to the class, it would take all week. Since Capt. Eddy would only be there to back up her story, I’m sure he could give the abridged version.

See: the real problem with lies: nobody believes you when you tell the truth.

Not that anyone would believe Danae anyway…

Why would the class believe Captain Eddy? Nobody else does. I agree with grazer, I want to know more about Jody…

The teacher should have let Danae read at least some of the story. I bet her classmates would have enjoyed it.

More like write it but they won’t read…as opposed to build it and they will come.

Danae should make lemon out of this lemonade. Put the summer vacation report into book form and look for a publisher.

Maybe this is how Piers Anthony got his start…
