Ah, so that explains why the credits at the end of the average short film last longer than the film did! Seriously, a two minute film with one actor can have five minutes of credits listing hundreds of people!! I always wondered why they have so many people to thank. Now I know – they’re the ones who brought food…
I wanted to shut it off early after some schmuck won his award then said : “..For all our Union brothers in Wisconsin we’re behind you.” But the Wife wanted to watch Christian Bale win.
The Guild is a union. Remember Uncle Ronnie was President of it for years and drew a pension from it as well as from the gov’t for making instruction films for the GI’s and Social Security, yet he didn’t want anybody “doubledipping” I don’t know if he received anything for being ex-Guv of California.
This is so true. I produced a film that Tom Cruise acquired when he was king of Paramount and he added 13 producer credits, none of whom had anything to do with the making of the film. He even added his secretary! There were so many credits that we had to move all of the front-end credits to the back of the film because it interfered with the opening scene in the picture.

Screen credit is so passe. Nowadays, they make producers of various kinds–some films have fifteen or more!
