He is no longer in the top 1%. You can’t take it with you. His survivors are surviving well off.

He worked for success all his life. At least he has a nice gravestone now that he’s dead. And his kids, who never worked for anything will inherit the rewards for his efforts. Go figure.

I don’t pay taxes, either. One has to have income of a certain level in order to pay taxes.

1% of what? Did he figure out how to take it with him? …or is it 1% of the most egregious grave markers?

Didn’t someone once say something like, “it’ll be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter Heaven”?Wonder how much good being in that 1% did him?

When there are more living-wage jobs looking for people than there are people looking for living-wage jobs, then I’ll worry about those who are “too lazy to work.” Until then, it’s a lot of hot air.

On the subject of the cartoon,Your worm is your only emperor for diet. We fat all creatures else to fat us, and we fat ourselves for worms. Your fat king and lean beggar is but variable service; two dishes to one table, that’s the end.

A worm may eat of a king, and a man may eat of a fish that hath fed on that worm…Thus showing how a king may go a progress through the guts of a beggar.

I doubt many in the 1% on wealth are in the top 1% in either intelligence or energy expended to obtain it. Six of the ten wealthiest Americans in 2010 never had to lift a finger, 4 Waltons, 2 Koch. Two were computer nerds, one a true businessman (Buffett) and one a media “mogul” and Mayor of New York. NONE are from the herd of “TEA party” types who think they’ll all become wealthy in the “American Dream” model. So, 4 of the top ten ARE fairly “bright” and oddly, those 6 who did NOT work for their money, in any way, are the “stingiest”.

Funny that, on Thanksgiving Day, people could be whining about paying taxes to provide welfare for the needy. Didn’t the American Indians provide charity to the pilgrims? Now, if only the top 1% could be subjected to the same taxes and tax levels as the 99% we could maybe improve support for the needy, hungry and homeless.Incidentally, I am not a Christian, I just find it hard to look in the eye of a fellow human being in need and then walk on by on my way to buying a bigger TV.

I suppose that to some, it would be difficult to understand. The concept of patriotism- of putting the needs of the country ahead of the greeds of the self- will always be incomprehensible to people who think that the idea is not to ask what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you.
