Egad! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen comments so full of gross misconceptions and generalities on so many viewpoints. The only stereotype that’s rung true is that the KKK is a foul and evil organization. There’s a lot of mistakes about some religions, countries, groups, etc. Does no one ever actually meet and talk to people who are different from themselves? Is everyone eating up the far right/left propaganda and not realizing that in several cases they get very close to being mirror images of themselves? Just doing a Google search isn’t enough to find out about a race, culture, or religion but I seriously doubt most people here today even do that. That’s a tragedy.

At least American “Heeroe” Daniel Boone kept moving Himself out of the neighborhood when he didn’t like the latest batch of immigrants. Of course, he moved West and stole land from the people who already Lived there.

Well done again Wiley! Some hidden aspects of some of the commentators have been revealed.

Having read Trump only wants immigrants with an education and money migrating to the United States. That sounds like he wants to turn the United States into a gated community where only “desirable” are welcomed to join the club.

First and foremost, if these immigrants have an education and money, why would they want to come to a country a washed in unchecked gun violence, sub-par health care, ugly partisan politics, a race war brewing, or worse, a hot war on the horizon?

Second, many of the immigrants who seek refuge here, are trying to better themselves and their families, are willing to do jobs many Americans are unwilling or have no desire to do. Such as, cleaning hotel and hospital rooms and toilets, growing and picking the food we eat, working in slaughterhouses, caring for our elderly and vulnerable, plus many, many other low paying, but essential, jobs in this country.

Third, what happened to “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” It served Trump’s grandfather quite well, but that was then, this is now.

Our country was built on the backs of immigrants for over 240 years. No slogan on a hat or catchphrase will make us great. It’s the diversity of people, and their backgrounds, that’s what makes us a great, strong nation.

Lastly, think about this the next time you hear someone say “Go back to where you came!”, we are ALL the decedents of immigrants.
