It might not be the comic strip. A few years back a congressman expressed concern that his fear is that a whole island will become so overly populated it will tip over and capsize.
The Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England, has been moving towards the mainland for thousands of years. Unfortunately it loses more off the south side than the north. There’s a place call Blackgang chine where they check, and normally change barriers every day.
