A friend of mine discovered that Roombas are afraid of the dark. She forgot it was tootling around the living room, and as she left she switched off the lights. Suddenly behind her she heard this very distressed “beepbeepbeep” and the Roomba raced down the hall toward the light! She has since named it R2D2.

Last year’s model was recalled due to a faulty rinse cycle:
