Claire should at least tell the boss she’s been offered a position for more money and leverage a raise out of her. And why is moving to China a deal-breaker? Sounds like they’re willing to pay quite a bit, so she’s probably be able to get a really nice place – and could afford to fly people out to visit frequently. There is that whole ‘not speaking Chinese’ thing though, but that can be remedied.
When Hong Kong went back to China, a lot of residents moved to Canada (which is easier for Commonwealth citizens). They fly back to Hong Kong to work and back to Canada on week-ends. They are called astronauts because they spend so much time in space.
