I’ve never understood why many parents create a sort of hysteria or hyper-emotional reaction to something that can be easily dealt with. This strip is a joke on the issue, but the issue is real.

Example, a kid skin their knee on the ground or falls over. The parent rushes to aide, “oh baby, you okay… don’t cry, it’s okay…” etc., and all super emotional. That generally creates an excessive reaction from the child. The more calm the parent is and the less of an issue the parent makes it generally the less of an issue it is with the kid.

It’s not just a physical pain thing, but emotional and in dealing with hardships. It’s no wonder so many people whine and complain about every little thing and can’t handle the slightest bit of adversity.

The fact that the parent assumed that the end of the world was going to happen cause Ruthie wasn’t invited to a party is an absolute shame. I’m happy Rick had her shrug it off for the frivolousness that it was as well as go directly to the source to find out what the issue was (and find out there was no actual issue).

I know what it’s like to be the kid left out at times. That’s life.

Plus, knowing Ruthie, she would have gone to the dollar store anyway, lol.
