No, subtraction won’t be negative for a few more years… then they’ll teach you about subtracting, adding, multiplying, AND dividing negative numbers! ;-)

And then there’s complex numbers—which can be both positive and negative simultaneously—as well as both real and imaginary.

Depends on how you look at it. By definition, you’re actually adding a negative value.

Oh Ruthie, wait until you have to learn algebra.
