My dad got in a car accident with a family who lived four houses from us. They sued my dad for damages, especially after my dad said some unsavory things to them. My mom kept saying we could lose everything. We didn’t, but I did see them about two years later, filling gas in their new cabin cruiser that was about 40 feet long. I only said “Hi”.
Since them my policy has been do whatever you can to avoid lawyers and doctors. They’re too expensive.

Dad wouldn’t let me have a BB gun, because, "I would treat it like a toy and get in trouble with it ". Instead, I got a .22 rifle at age eight.
