My mom once spent a weekend at a hotel in Jacksonville and was treated extrememly rudely by the entire staff, for no reason she could figure out. Just a miserable experience. Sure enough, about six months later a black family sued the same hotel for racism on the way they were treated there, and we were thinking from her experience it probably wasn’t racism, but that the management were just jerks to everyone. But of course being a jerk to a minority is hard to differentiate from being racist.
