Look at all those long lost Louie toys and bones! Pirate dog booty indeed! And there’s no King Tut’s curse associated with any of it.

    Enjoy yourself, Louie!

Just as Howard Carter made the small hole a voice said, “Who’s there”? Howard said, “It’s a Carter”. The voice said, “The door’s not locked, just toot ‘n’ come in”.

Move the fridge, the sofa, the armchair, bookcase anything in our house and there’s likely a cat toy.

Doc: catnip, even the dried store stuff, Put it in a Tupperware (is that even a name any more?) container with the toy overnight and it will freshen it for them.

Dog toy, well,Pooches will take anything back, even a buried bone. No discretion.

Aw - is there anything cuter than the look on Louie’s face as he gazes with love upon his long lost treasures?

I’m thinking Nate should be lifting ALL the furniture on the ship now. Who knows what delights are waiting to be found?

When we have too much month left at the end of the money we search down the edges of the sofa. We look under the sofa before we buy ballpoint pens.

usfellers love how you phrased that, “too much month left at the end of the money”! LOL!

I should look under our couch, I’m sure I would find lord knows what under there!

Good late morning Crew! Enjoy your weekend!

Doctor Toon…. When I moved ( a state away) we packed one of the two baskets of dog toys away. Several months later when I unpacked that box it was like Christmas. Both dog went snuffering around in it and pull out some of their favorites. The look on their faces and tails, wish I had filmed it.

    Have fun Louie !

Our mutt went absolutely beserk at one stage trying to get under the sofa; couldn’t stop her. I looked but nothing under there. After hours of being driven mad I finally tipped the couch on its back, only to find a possum up in the springs. It jumped out, with the resulting mayhem throughout the entire house leading to a series of insurance claims.

    Nate: beware.

As a distraction: A few months back I came across a small possum in the middle of the road; it had been hit by a car. It seemed to be ok but in shock, so silly me picked it up to carry it to let it go in the scrub. For my troubles I got a small possum firmly fastened onto my left forefinger. It took a lot of prising off to fall back on the road, the success of which was no doubt due to the fact that possums are not carnivores and so the taste of my blood did not appeal.

The natural instinct of a possum is to escape danger by climbing the nearest thing, which just happened to be me. Any passing motorist would have been puzzled by a lunatic dancing aound in the midde of the road at 1 am with a possum firmly attached to his scalp. Good sense overcame the pain and I finally made it to the side of the road where I presented my head to a tree branch, thus solving the immediate problem but left with the pain.

    Nate: Beware.

usfellers, Here our possums protect themselves from predators by “playing dead” (actually going catatonic, sometimes evacuating bowels and bladder, etc). This may last for a few minutes or up to several hours. A month or so ago, I watched one fall over in my back yard. I left him alone thinking he’d eventually get up and amble away. The next day, about 22 hours later, he was still there and cold. Then I put him in the garbage can. He sure fooled me all right.

Doesn’t going catatonic save a predator an awful lot of trouble?

ottod I’ll bet you were surprised! Odd that it died like that, I wonder if it got into poison? Or worse yet, had rabies! If it did, you were lucky!

Never seemed like a good strategy to me, usfellers, but it must work, ‘cause there are a lot of possums around.
