Not too long after WWII my family moved to a little suburb of Chicago that was just taking off as Midway airport was expanding after the war. So much building was going on, and the streets weren’t even paved yet, that all kind of vermin was being displaced. You’d find snakes on your back steps, and mice everywhere. My mother opened the (unlighted)oven one evening, where she’d been keeping the meatloaf warm while we ate, and there was mouse sitting on the meatloaf sharing our dinner. I am not making this up, and no we did not invite it to the table for mashed potatoes.

Damn Mice!!! Grrr … ..Morning Crew.
