The last time I was around a group of elementary kids they had used swear words without anger; I suggested that they should learn a different language if they want to talk dirty. I then suggested French.

Just play Call of Duty online.Squeaky pre puberty kids cussing like grizzled old China sailors on drunken shore leave.I did not mind too much the cheating but getting cussed out by a 10 year old got old real quick.I did play with sound off but then came the emails and posts. The they ask to Friend you to beef up their accounts.I rejected one and got cussed so bad my old Army drill Sgt would have blushed and with him it took six weeks of basic before he even used my name with out additional words describing my orientation or parentage.

I think that swearing is so universal now that we’re devaluing our cusswords. So when someone smashes his thumb with a hammer and reacts accordingly, he hasn’t really got anything to say to express his anger. Cussing in a new language may be the way to go.

I suggest Yiddish. THAT is cussing with STYLE.

Pauljmsn, You do know that Jews do not swear. We curse. This involves wishes for termination of life, the suffering of drastic diseases, etc. It is much more personal and self-satisfying.

I’m reminded of when I read that Paul Newman talked about the “****ing salt” incident at his house.

" Now, I had heard that word at least ten times a day from my old man. He worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay. It was his true medium; a master. But, I chickened out and said the first name that came to mind… Schwartz! "-—A Christmas Story
