why have a turkey? I rather have a large lobster for thanksgiving or a big bucket of chicken.

vwluanoand,I’m with you. lobster for just the to of us is much better than even a small turkey for two. We live in a rural area, no one else to invite.

When I was very small, Mom skinned & deboned a turkey, chopped the meat & added onion & spices then wrapped the result in the turkey skin. She baked the resulting loaf shaped bundle. It came out very tender, sliced like a beef roast. It wasn’t a holiday, turkey was the cheapest meat & all she could afford. Good memories from tough times.

Well, this is quite fair: after all the “carbonara” is an american-italian dish. (No, not italian-american: it was invented by american soldiers in Italy during WWII)
