Lucy really wanted to try out a new word she learned.

That’s too much of a mouthful for her. What if he had refused giving the autograph? Was that going to be rude and earn a pounding? Poor CB. Always in a lose-lose situation.

It’s more of an “egoist”, and egotist talks about himself. I learned it from Norman Lewis’s “Word Power Made Easy” about this time in 1971. Add the “t” for talk. Now, Dawn sings #1 “Knock Three Times”.

I write poetry. One of my most popular poems is about NASCAR. When I go to the local track I always bring copies, hoping to be able to give it to drivers & team members, but I’ll give one to anyone who asks. One time my husband & I were hanging with a group of people at the track when my poem came up. One person not only asked for a copy, but asked me to autograph it. Let me tell you…that was a really strange sensation!

Of course he thought you wanted it. You asked for it.

Reminds me of an old ‘Miss Peach’ comic where a child comes home and says to her mother: “I learned a new word in school today.” And in the next panel: “Try to surmise what it is.”

These may be the first steps down a path that leads to placekicking a football….“You really thought I was going to hold it for you?”

Boy what a mean and nasty person. Lucy could probably benefit from some psychiatric advice.

Lucy: May I have your autograph Charlie Brown?

Charlie Brown: I don’t think so.

Lucy: You’re not going to give it to me are you? Well I’ll be! You don’t really think I wanted your autograph did you? Boy what an EGOTIST!

I had somebody ask me for my autograph, for real. I have no idea who she thought I was.

I’m still convinced that Marjorie Taylor Spleen modeled her life after Lucy’s character.
